The time stamp on my original note about this says June 10, 2013. I can't remember where I saw this, but we had a house that had some tired baseboards, so I thought I'd try some advice from The Internet.

Naturally Repair Wood with Vinegar and Canola Oil. So, for a super cheap solution, use:

• 3/4 cup of Canola oil
• 1/4 cup vinegar. white or apple cider vinegar

Mix it in a jar, then rub it into the wood. You don’t need to wipe it off; the wood just soaks it in.

I did try this and amazingly, our baseboards looked fantastic. The unforeseen side effect was our dog making her way around the perimeter of each room licking the baseboards.
